Edinburgh-based writer Elaine Gunn puts pen to paper to provide an antidote to what she calls “passive princess culture”. Inspired by her own personal life journey and growing self-awareness, she wrote a collection of seven original fairy tales The Silver Moon Storybook, which was published in December 2018. Dealing with themes of trauma, self-responsibility, vulnerability, courage and connection, Silver Moon wraps big issues of the modern world safely up inside the metaphors and symbols of a fantastical fairy-tale universe.
When not writing, Elaine can be found walking her adorable dog Evie, swimming in Scottish reservoirs or practicing fire-club swinging, which was by far the coolest thing she learned in 1997. She loves bright colours, crochet, and coming up with sneaky ways to subvert the patriarchy.
